Thanks, everyone. I'm not selling any. The LFS I go to got in 4 of them. The one I got was the nicest out of the bunch. Only reason it is in my frag tank is b/c I wanted to get a good shot before transferring it to my display.

Store is called Ocean Treasures in SF. I was just told by some clam experts that it is not a hybrid clam, but in fact just a crocea with large scutes with a unique pattern. I still like it.

I would agree, its unusual, but not a hybrid. FWIW, Croceas grows scutes and they are shorn off when the burrow into limestone in the wild. If they grow captively and dont burrow, you see the scutes.

I would also tend to think it's NOT a hybrid. I don't even know if that's possible with clams....but doubt it.

Croceas can grow scutes but very rarely burrow in home aquariums. Looks like a regular maxima to me; but I have only seen tens of thousands of clams. Thing with clams is the identification of the number of folds along the mantle of the clam. Croceas tend to have far less then 10-11. They usually fall in the 6-8 range.
