Thank you Sir! We used to keep clams and would love to add one. Sadly, our Regal Angel would view it as a snack and make quick work of it.
I've heard of a few people that have had luck keeping regals with clams. I'm seriously considering getting one myself and hope that I wouldn't have to move the clams to the frag tank :squigglemouth:

After she made quick work of an Elegance Coral, we're afraid to try a clam. Although we just did a little experiment with an acan she can't seem to resist. We moved it next to the paly's that our clowns are hosting and they are now defending it as part of their turf too. It only took a few hours for her to give up on it. It might be possible to put a smaller clam in the area and have them "guard" it as well. hmmmmm... something to think about.

We have two particular acan's that our Regal Angel just cannot resist. So after repeated attempts to re-introduce them, we decided to do a little experiment and placed one of the colonies in the midst of our Ocellaris clowns' territory and see if they would "defend" it with the same determination and gusto they display when defending their paly's.

Here's a pic of the clowns lounging in the paly's:

3 days into our little experiment and it appears to be working...

Awesome pics as always! Best of luck with the experiment. If it works out, are you going to try introducing a clam in the clowns territory?

Day 6 of our experiment and it's working so well that we decided to add the other acan into the mix...

Thought we should take the time to give a small update.

Last week, Terry ordered a P. octotaenia pair that arrived last Thursday. When she opened the package, she found a DOA male and another male that was in bad shape - damaged mouth, completely missing one ventral fin, anal fin torn and early signs of skin parasites. He spent the first 2 days laying in the corner of our QT and we were doubtful he would make it. Thankfully, he is doing better - alert, eating well and swimming. Here's a pic from earlier today:

We're cautiously optimistic that he will make a full recovery...

M&T, are you treating him with anything at this point or just letting him chill?

Brett, we have the salinity at 1.015 and are treating him with metronidazole since it covers gram negative and fungal infections as well as being an anti-protozoal.

We started the med's on Saturday and w/in a few hours of treatment, he began to show signs of improvement. I don't think his ventral fin will regrow - there's just nothing left of it, but his anal fin is healing. His mouth looks nearly healed and he doesn't seem to be having any difficulty eating anymore.

Still have more pages to go through but so far vary nice-Well out together makes me rethink how I put my build thread together
doh.gif

the 300 DD was my tank of choice but the LFS gave me the run around and a buddy offered to build my 400 at cost in exchange for frags, So I went 4 feet deep vs the 3 ft on the DD but man there is no comparison to glass-

Very nice build you 2-I want to add an Angel to mine but am so leary. Have you ever had any nipping? I have clams, scolys, acans.......yum yum

Again, Nice!!!

Thank you! Our Bellus pair does not bother our corals at all. Our regal will nip SPS on occasion, but doesn't do any damage. She does have a taste for zoa's and some other LPS corals. We have one acan that she finds irresistible, but she leaves many others alone. We have not tried a clam with her yet.
