We got this coral from a local vendor years back that he would just call his “highlighter green Monti”
It’s got a really odd, but interesting growth structure. It’s somewhat plating but the entire coral has this crazy topography and random areas will throw up these tower like spires.

Here’s a couple closeup videos showing its growth structure topography on some pieces I just fragged off, and then the mother colony in the back at the end of the video.

Anyone have a guess?

I’ve had many caps before and none have ever had this kind of topography, and none have ever thrown up branches from the plates. I HIGHLY DOUBT this is a capricornus.

Yea I don’t think that’s a cap either

We may call them that because they plate but when you look at the skeletal structure of what’s a know Capricornus and this and it’s not the same.
This is a true cap

Not capricornis; virtually all of what we call "Montipora capricornis" in the hobby are misidentified. True M. capricornis doesn't have any papillae or tuberculae, but still have a rough surface.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
