So, lost 2 of my Bellus angels over the last two months. One came in with mild swim bladder disease. Thought she had recovered, was eating and picking on the rocks, then suddenly died. The other had lymphocystis when she came in also recovered from it, then died. Granulomas seen internally when I necropsied her. So down to my male and two females. They are all fat and happy. Dont think Im going to replace the 2 lost Bellus angels. Also having a cyano outbreak right now sand is getting covered. About three weeks in with normal water changes, and siphoning the sandbed, but corals seem okay and growing well. My acans arent doing well, think my bicolor blenny is killing them. Have seen him pick on some of the remaining tissue. No way to catch him. So guess my plan is to quarantine some KP aquatics or Tampa Bay Saltwater rock for 60 days at reef temps (ich and velvet). And build on my clean up crew.

Full tank shot 7/30/2022. Yay cyanobacteria. Trying to decide on how to add more flow. Also been battling aptasia (raising berghias in the 29gallon right now, when its clean, everything minus sand is goint in the big tank). Well at least my small amount of SPS is happy and growing despite the challenges. Guess Im just gonna keep up with sand maintenence and keeping the cyano away from the corals. Did get 4 Strawberry conchs and a few nassarius from Reefcleaners. Will look at adding some more inverts as they were good to deal with and everything came well packed and healthy.

Nice!, My QT is determined to ensure i do not transfer any of my old Aiptasia to my new system. I think I can do it since I am removing the plugs and have a dope inspection station. (Zoas and Montis underside are the main culprits)

In case all this fails I will do the same; setup a separate tank and for Berghias bc once they are in my big tank its just finding a long term natural predator.

I use my 29gallon as a quarantine tank for corals (mainly for ich and velvet). It has aiptasia. I changed plugs, epoxied over any areas I saw aiptasia, and dangit, still got it in the big tank. So growing berghias now to go into the big tank.

Will you able to keep the alive and away from all those wrasses. My wrasses would eat them before they got to the apitasia. Copperband is the only thing that worked for me.

Plan is to increase numbers in the 29gallon. Then when the rock is looking clear (that I know the berghias are working), transfer the rock to several areas of the 500 (inclding the sump) and see how it goes. Trying to avoid fish I dont want long term (copperband and filefish), and I keep the wrasses well fed (I dont notice them hunting the rocks at all). Ill keep everybody posted. Plan on putting the good and bad on here.

Happy Friday! Full tank shot from today. Updates, my profilux is showing pretty good performance and stability overall. Hand dosing baking soda for alkalinity daily is showing that I only have about a .1 to .2 drop per day, which is easy to keep up with. Increases as my CO2 reactor media exhausts every 3 to 4 days. Cyano is mostly gone while using NO CHEMICALS to beat it at this point (just 10 percent water changes weekly and siphoning cyano out of the tank, and substrate cleaning with the water changes). Lost 2 acan mini colonies, and my 2 small gonioporas arent looking good either. Never had luck with them. My 2 aveloporas though seem to be doing fairly well.......

nice tank and fish.
how do you like having an acrylic tank? I had a 240 years ago. I was really new to reefing. anyway I am loosely thinking of a large tank for a FOWLR system and like the weight of acrylic over glass.

would you buy one again?

The weight is nice for moving it. We used 6 people to put a 500 gallon in place (that aint happening with glass). I dont have to worry about busted seams like so many glass failure threads on here. Clarity is very good. Yes I do uave some scratches, which is acrylic's downfall, but at least I can buff those out unlike glass. I have also heard of a few in tank polish kits that dont require you to drain the tank to polish it. So absolutely Id buy another again.
