Hi guys,

Once again, I need help on identification. This time, it’s these dark, shiny, egg looking things. I’ve spotted them in a few different locations in my tank.

Whatever it came from, I have a feeling it’s from some sort of hitchhiker, since I only have a skunk cleaner shrimp, two turbo snails (I know what their eggs look like, and a mated pair of clowns.

I did however recently discover a couple small starfish that hitchhiked in.

Any light anyone could shed on this would be appreciated. Nervous that something awful is about to erupt in my tank.

Yeah, that's bubble algae - it tends to be invasive, so removal is generally suggested. Manual removal is always a suggestion, but things like Foxfaces, tangs, emerald crabs, and pitho crabs will sometimes eat it.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
