Hello guys...just getting back into the hobby after an almost 5 year break. Had an old JBJ24 with standard PC lighting that housed a few fish and softies when the light ballast, pump, and fan all went out within a couple weeks. Finances at the time dictated that electricity and food at home were more important than my tank...so it sat idle.

Fast forward to about a week ago, I removed about 28lbs of live rock from the JBJ, gave it a hydrogen peroxide bath, scrubbed some algae off, rinsed it in saltwater and placed it in my new cube...I then surrounded it with some CaribSea Hawaiian Black live sand and about 6 more lbs of live rock from my LFS. Ive been testing daily and am seeing a slight cycle, so I'll wait it out.

Haven't been here long, but have received a very warm welcome...so thanks for that! I'm excited to be back in...

How long did your rock sit without water changes?
I ask because my rock was a phosphate sink. Took months to get them down in my BC29. I had them for about 15 years in a fowlr.

What mods are you planning?

I really like the InTank media holder. I use their fuge too to help grow pods for my scooters. I paired it with a JBJ light that runs opposite of my tank lights. But, the best C note I have ever spent on equipment is the Tunze ATO.

I don't imagine my caulerpa takes out much from the tank, but I have a pair of ORA scooter blennies that love pods. It is just another place to keep pods going. I cant keep chaeto to save my life. Even with regular weekly iron dosing.

Moving along...have some algae to take care of, but began dosing Vibrant today, so looking forward to the results.

Over the past few weeks I've added: 1 Purple Firefish, 1 Red Firefish, 1 Cleaner Shrimp, 2 Emerald Crab, 1 Porcelain Crab, 5 Cerith Snails, 2 Nassarius Snails, & some Zoas.

Just waiting out the algae and the coming months of water changes so I can get closer to a red BTA and a green BTA to go along with a couple of clowns for the kids.

Thanks for reading...

Welcome.... Back! Looking good so far. I started a 32BC around thanksgiving as well. Like the size. My temp runs higher than I'd like so I keep the feed door open. Seems to help.
The "In Tank" media baskets are great. Frees up space in the back for a skimmer or Fuge if that's more to your liking. They just started shipping them for the 32 this week. I also chose to upgrade the light. There's some nice mods out there for these tanks depending on what you plan on keeping.

Check out the "In Tank" website. They categorze equipment that'll fit each nano which is handy.

Thanks...and will do. I didn't know they had a section like that on the site. I don't think I'll go higher than LEDs, but who knows!

What did you upgrade your lights to?

I went with Steve's LED in hood upgrade. Wanted to keep the stock cube look. Was fairly easy to install with a screwdriver and drilling 1 small hole through plastic. It's a night and day difference and my few corals noticed immediately.

Yep, when I jumped into the hobby my plans weren't all that grand either but as I spend more time on R2R and see all these incredible tanks I decided I "NEEDED" one too :)
