I’ve had this yellow tang for 4 days now. He is at least five years old and could use a little more weight on him. I also have a blue eye kole tang and everything is going relatively smoothly so far between all the fish.

The yellow tang will use its tail to fend off the kole tang when he wants to eat algae on the rocks close to it. He will also guard the algae feeding clip against other fish, mainly the tang.

This is a new behavior so it might extinguish shortly. Or not. I don’t know if this is common or not. Any tips ? Should I put 2 algae clips in the tank ?

Thanks

Maybe. Wait and see if they learn to share and respond appropriately.

What’s funny is this yellow tang is coming from a tank full of tangs. No way he wasn’t sharing before. Maybe je was the runt and never got enough to eat and that's why it’s a little thin ?

If that's the case, he’ll hopefully realize there is plenty of food in my tank. :)

Had this happen with powder blue and a French angel.
I put two clips in. Power blue freaked out but then realized it couldn't defend two clips lol.
Kept doing that for couple weeks then took one clip out.
No worries after that.
Each fish ate on each clip so I guess when they had one they figured it out.
Yellow probably was last on pecking order, missing out. Doesn't want that to happen again. ;)
