Sorry the picture isn’t good but my pavona has been growing really fast and now it seems to be tearing itself off the rock with white skeleton being shown as it arches itself off the rock. I think this is a sign of just the growth being very fast and is good??

Not sure, but if you have a trigger fish I would expect this kind of damage, but I am just seeing the most recent image, not seeing what it has looked like on the way.

Nope not fish damage or damage at all I think. The white is new growth I think. I just thought that with coral growth they grew out from the tips not from the base? As I said its like new base growth is pushing the coral out into an arch shape.

From a few months ago.

I'd frag off overhanging section and separate ,not liking the white section,
yes they shadow themselves out in growth ,but this section does not look shadowed

I have the same pavona, or at least very close, mine just is starting to grow fast, but mostly encrusting at this point. Did you find yours encrusted then grew out? Just wanted to know what to expect.

It did encrust at first but quickly followed it with the wiggly plates. Now it’s doing this really weird growth.

It is growing very fast and aggressively though.

That's the growth pattern of that particular Pavona, not sure why the skeleton is showing but that can be a sign of too fast growth on some SPS.

Thanks
That’s what it seemed like to me. But I’d never heard of it before
