Perc's hosting in squamosa

My female percula is hosting in my squamosa (I think that's the kind of clam) and I was wondering if this is safe for the clown to do? Will the clam kill it by closing shut? The male doesn't seem to have any interested in the clam and just pooters around it. Thanks!

I've seen pictures of this before and its pretty cool IMO. I've never heard of them damaging the clam or vice versa when they host it though, so you should be good. Take some pics for us!

I've seen them host in a couple. Its cool, nothing usually happens. They use it for safety I think, not like a regular anenome and stuff where they buffett it.
Its neat when they do that! Thats cool yours did.
How big is the clam?

Seems like she'll only host in it when I'm not near. As soon as I get near she shoots up and hopes to get some food! The clam is about 4 inches.

this happens quite often. In bigger clams they will actually swim inside it for safety pretty cool

I have seen tangs get shut up and killed in them so I am not sure about clowns. Don't you just love clowns though?

The mostly won't harm the clam, some times the clams will stress and this causes holes in the mantle.

I have had this happen before:

The clam lived but the fish was a gonner.

Isn't that a derasa, Squamosa's have large shutes/flutes on the shell and that is a smooth shell.

I happened to be home at lunch one day during work and saw Mo, my Clown Goby's little tail flapping in the jaws of my crocea. It took a butter knife and both arms (dress shirt) submerged to free the little guy. Clam died a week later, some how Mo survived, but had a line down the center of his back where it had closed on him.

I was much more attached to Mo than I was the clam

I just lost a clam that I've had for yrs because I put it to close to the host of my clowns. I knew better:sad:

LOL yeah I am glad I thought of taking the pic at the time.

I have had clowns disturb Squamosa's enough to make them have holes in their mantle.

The clam should get used to the clowns as long as the clowns arent diving into the clam.
