Hi All,

So this happened today and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with their Pistol shrimp ?

As I do every morning I drop in a couple of Asterina starfish for my Harlequin shrimp.

One landed near the entrance to my Watchman Goby and Pistol shrimps lair

From nowhere the pistol shrimp shot out grabbed the starfish and dragged it under his rock I can only presume to eat !

So they eat starfish as it’s the first time I have seen him do this

There's a good chance the starfish will come crawling out later and that the shrimp was just defending its home.
I've heard of multiple cases of the goby bringing the shrimp a small snail or hermit, the shrimp bringing it inside, and the snail/hermit crawling out of the burrow unharmed later.
