Hey fam,

So I’ve posted about this but haven’t got a straight answer

It’s been about 9 days now and water is still cloudy.

I don’t think its bacterial bloom because my return pump nozzles, both get covered in the silt, not a lot but enough to be a nuisance and my pump also.

-In one chamber is a media basket, top is filter floss, middle is chem pure elite been in there for over a month and bottom is the bio filter media spheres.
-Next is the heater
-Middle is return
-And far right I have a sock up top with a black course sponge below

Anything I should take out or put in or take out?

I clean filter socks and switch out the filter floss daily sometimes more.

Should I take chempure elite out?

I’m truly getting frusterated

Salinity -1.026
Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 2ppm (Red Sea test)

That’s all I got

Can someone please hook it up with more info. I’m really thinking its the silt from sand but idk.

Also have a goby and pistols shrimp but they don’t lift enough for it to be this much, pics attached

What type of sand did you use? If dry did you rinse it first?

Carib sea with pink flakes or whatever and no I did not rinse. Never have in over 10+ years
I'm not seeing alot of silt, looks like small bubbles sitting under the return line and powerhead. If its bacterial a uv will clear it up. Personally I'd wait and see what happens the next few days.

Have you done a water change? Should help with either. I'm leaning towards bacteria and the bubbles on the ph some sort of gas exchange happening. I'd try to get rid of the bacteria personally. It can rob the tank of o2

So you are saying you know it is sand particulate that is floating in your water column and you don’t know how to stop so much sand from being stirred around?
If that’s the case have you tried dialing the flow back so it’s not kicking up so much sand?

How long have the bio spheres been in the tank? Did you rinse them before putting them in?

Biospheres have been in since beginning and non I didn’t rinse but I’ll try dialing flow, it doesn’t seem to disturb sand but maybe it does

You

And again

goby and pistols shrimp but they don’t lift enough for it to be this much
My advice
Run filter floss, change/rinse everyday. This stuff can take weeks to clear up.
Even if

I clean filter socks and switch out the filter floss daily sometimes more

Any work those 2 do, are going to kick up particles you should have rinsed out.

Other than removing sand bed and doing several rinses.. You're just going to have to let the filters do their work.

Its a dusty sediment from sand which settles on glass and surfaces, Its easily blown loose with a turkey baster and easily wiped off glass. Often increasing flow will keep it from adhering to surfaces

Beg for help, then insult those that offer their opinion. Great strategy
How is that insulting? I was extremely clear in the original post? Or was I not? And was told TWO things that I made very clear, I do. So again, how is that insulting? Or should we just disregard that I made sure to add as much info in the first post so that I can actually get help, which I have as always but when I’m extremely clear and am told what I said I already do… yeah, sorry, that’s the response you’re gonna get. Please help me with your strategy?

Most likely you’re one of those people who come on make a comment and just walk away. Which is fine but before you come on here and make it seem as if I was insulting someone read the whole thread buddy

Maybe just be a little more polite to the people trying to help.
Some people don’t read lol
I would take this as an insult, and am pretty sure others would as well.
