Looking for advice on best way to plumb my setup.
  • Aquarium has two ¾” bulkheads.
  • Overflow has three 1.5” drain ports.
  • Sump has three 1” drain ports.
  • I have two Apex Cor-20 return pumps.
  1. What size pipe should be used for the returns (Pumps have ¾” or 1” or 1.25” outputs, bulkheads are ¾”)?
  2. What size pipe should be used for drains (Overflow has 1.5” and sump has 1”)?
  3. Return pumps:
    • Should each return pump be plumbed to one return bulkhead?
    • Or use just 1 return pump and keep other for spare?
    • Or have each return pump feed both return bulkheads?

2 of the ones for overflow 1 for emergency overflow. I would bump up the 1.5 into a 2 in via adapter or just go 1.5. And you can run 1 pump just split into those 2, 3/4 returns.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
