Hi all,

My son and I are setting up a new 24 gallon mixed reef tank. The used pump we got with the tank is a bit noisy. We're looking for a quieter one since this tank is set up in his bedroom. I was looking at the Jebao DCW-1500 which is 4.6x2.2 (LxW) but the Aquatop tank return pump chamber is only 4.5x3.0. Do you think that extra 0.1" length is going to be an issue? Could I tilt the pump in the chamber, without it touching the glass sides and vibrating?

Thanks in advance,
Jerry

you don't want your return pump contacting anything except via the rubber feet on the bottom. vibration will likely be an issue otherwise.

Check out the reefbreeders nautilus dc return pumps - I use one in my frag tank and it runs silent. looks like the footprint would be more fitting as well.

I ran a Tunze 1073.008 on my Aquatop 18" cube and it is quiet.
I would use again.
Thanks for the info. I can't find this Tunze pump available online anymore. Do you know if there is a newer model? I might not be looking in the right place.

IMO....anything Sicce
I checked out the Sicce pumps. I have a 4.5" long chamber, so only the Sicce Syncra Silent 1.5 would fit. Do you think the 357gph is enough for a 24g mixed reef tank?

are you using pump for filtration side only or for intank water movement also?
IMO, for filter, its plenty enough

This is basically for the return pump on an AIO, so it's total water movement
