I’m trying to keep track of my progress and to hold myself accountable to work on this diligently. I have a 14 year old custom-made 90 gallon. It’s all star fire glass and I neglected and just let sit empty dry and dirty for all those years now, though silicone still feels very pliable nothing feels dried out or anything, but I’m thinking about putting more silicone over top of it just to be safe? Thoughts?

Putting silicone over old won’t do anything. It won’t stick to old silicone at all.
In my opinion three options are.

1.Do nothing and fill with water.

2.Remove silicone in corners but not between glass and re-seal the corners.

3.Or break down tank and rebuild with all new silicone.

Given that it has a frame I would opt for options 1. If I was really concerned I would go for option 3.

Thank you that gives me some comfort on the way I’m going to go I believe which would be option one and hope it’s tight lol

Updates; cleaned with vinegar from the inside windows from the outside still needs a little bit of love but much better. Had to tread lightly, so I don’t scratch the glass . Going to order new silicone, return tubing, and 20 gallon DIY sump kit. I think I’ve also decided that I will take my original six bulb power module and use that for this tank again even with messed up reflectors the thing puts out a massive amount of power. Have to replace two of the fans so might as well do all three.
