I have a little diy project in mind and I was wondering if using an RODI fitting which would be submerged in tank water is safe? I noticed there is a little piece of metal in the typical rodi connector that holds the tube in place and I am afraid of it causing issues with metals leaching and such.

Any input from my fellow reefers?

I wouldn't leave any metal submerged in saltwater continuously. It will corrode eventually, just a matter of time.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
