Well, as I have to catch a damsel within the next few hours so I can finally take my tank down, I would like to know what you all think is the safest way to catch a fish.

All the rocks are gone, knew that would make it way easier. Does everyone use nets or specimen containers?

A spear, dynamite, or any combination of the two would work :D. On SWF, someone actually made a mini harpoon to catch the damsel and was successful. Ill look for the thread.

You guys are nuts!

Here's the secret you all have been waiting for..............

Turn lights on after they've been off for about 3-4 hours and catch the fish while its asleep. Its like taking candy from a baby.

When we broke down our 180 a few years ago, it still had all the rock in it. I caught over 30+ fish within 35 minutes by doing it while they were asleep. They don't really wake up and the light kind shocks them. I caught all my tangs, peppermint hog, and all other wrasses this way. Worked like a charm and you don't need to spear anyone. I always hand catch my fish.
