Thanks, I'm battling a bit of hair algae and diatoms. I'm thinking it's because of the Nualgi that I tried.

I won't switch back to LED's ever again, love my T5's.

Well bad things have happened in the past month.... My tank looks horrible so I've been in cleanup mode. The hair algae has exploded, so I recently changed my RO/DI filters, and today I changed my T5 bulbs out and this happened:

I just changed out 6 80w T5's over my reef and I'm not gonna lie, this just happened....

Lol. I gotta see a pic of the fish with light sabers then! A little late on the filter changes or you think switching from LEDs to T5 caused the outbreak (can't remember how long ago you swapped out lights)? Or did you take my bad water? <just kidding

Oh no! I am so sorry :( I battled HA for some time a while back. It wasn't until I did bio pellets and the hydrogen peroxide method that it went away. I changed one of the flake foods lately and am now seeing a mustard type algae cropping up. Though most of my snails died due to pyramids so the cleanup crew is seriously lacking.

I hope it gets better very fast! I feel ya...

No not at all. I was using Nualgi and I think that's what caused it. Some people have had great success with it, but I'm not one of them.

You should get a sea hare and he will devour it all. When gone give or sell to someone in the area in need. :decision:
They have done wonders to my tanks in the past in a matter of a couple of weeks.

Chris, what about doing a Hydrogen peroxide batth for all the rock then do a blackout and chemi clean? That was the only way I got rid of it when I had my 150g disaster tank. Then I ran bio pellets for 6 months and it never came back

Got it, thanks for the quick reply. I have a similar problem with cyano popping up in my tank. I'm getting ready to try running carbon, and then GFO. Although a lot of folks have suggested bio pellets. I added a 20 gallon to my 150 gallon system and it exploded with hair algae, and coraline as well, but there is no hair algae in my DT, I think it's because of all my hungry tangs. Do you run any of the mentioned above?

I run a skimmer and that's it.

After what I did yesterday with the MJ there seems to be a whole lot less Cyano on the rocks today.
