Hi guys,

I have noticed a few salt crystals or something of the sort and I was trying to figure out what they were when I noticed one had tons of tiny black dots on it. I pulled it out of the tank and then put it in a scope and it looks like maybe they are tiny black tube worms or something. I would love some help identifying them! Thanks

Is it jelly like? There's a good possibility it's an egg sac for something.

It is hard and brittle like a salt crystal, but the little things are in the surface. It is very strange!

They do almost look like larvae of some sort. Do they move at all?

They don’t move at all. Taking another look at them in the microscope they are definitely tubes, I left them out of the tank either way so I was just curious if I needed to be on the look out for other things like this. I do have a couple of other crystal looking structures in the tank so I will keep an eye on them and see if the tiny black tubes develop on them.
