Coral recommendations for vertical “wall” areas. I was thinking acans or blasto or candy cane. Can those corals be glued slightly horizontally to the vertical side of rocks?

Also recommendations for small spaces like nooks and “valley”

Can you post a picture of the areas you're referring to? Are you trying to grow coral on the tank walls? Encrusting types are best for this. You can definitely glue frag on a slant, but be sure the weight of the coral won't eventually cause it to fall off.
