Hi everyone!
Today is going to be a bit crazy, with a lot of activity going on in our facility (not to mention, the arrival of some crazy new stuff from some of our favorite propagators), so we're a bit behind on uploading today's selections to our site. We thought we'd give you a sneak peak at some of the pieces you can expect to see later in the day as we add them!
We're very excited, because more and more of the 100% WYSIWYG pieces we're adding every day are from our "farm" - pieces that we have propagated in house, and hope to have available on a more-or-less regular basis. Careful "farming" of corals in our large facility will continue to provide our customers with the great benefits of outstanding selection, high quality, and super availability - not to mention, lower prices, on many of our most popular items!
And, captive propagation on a larger scale is the ecologically responsible thing to do. Win/win. So, while some vendors hastily throw out their latest imported acquisitions on the web in a frenzy before they lose color, etc., we're steadily releasing a large number of corals that have been either propagated in our facility, or acclimated to captive conditions (if they're wild or mariculture) for some time before their release. What's the rush? We are in it for the very long haul. Aren't you? "Sustainable" is not just a word to us.
Many of the maricultured pieces you see on our site have been in our systems for weeks and weeks, and our farmed "new releases" have been growing out in our system for months before you ever see them. Why? Because "fresh cuts" and "right out of the box" are not what we'd want in our own reef tanks, and we sure don't want them in our customers' systems, either. Minimal hype. Maximum quality. Consistent selection. Outstanding service. Every day.
That's how we roll.
Here are a few pics of some of the corals that we're adding throughout the day:
