I am currently in day 13 of a quarantine of a Saddleback puffer.

Things were going well; although its appetite left something to be desired. Today, as I watched him from across the room, he had an episode of darting around the tank along with some flashing behavior.

Then it just died.

This guy was swimming around happily earlier today. And I think it has to do with something I did.

I took two cups of wet, crushed coral that was stored in a plastic bag and placed it in a pile in a corner of the tank. Then this happened 2 hours later.

I think this did it. Can anyone tell me what happened?

Was there any other fish or organisms in the tank? Also what is your water chemistry because this looks like a pH spike.

Nope... this guy had a 25 gallon QT all to himself.

I made the water fresh when I was setting up QT for my purchase.

If it was a pH spike, it would have to be the result of me dumping the 2 cups of crushed coral in the tank.
