Hi guys. I noticed that my clam has a sponge growing on one side of its shell. Is it likely to cause any problems for the clam? It seems to be doing very well to me, the sponge doesn't seem to be bothering it but do you think I should remove the sponge?

I would say leave it. But a clam farmer might respond to a direct email.

If it's not bothering the clam, not covering the clam's flesh/mantle, and not preventing the clam from opening/closing, then it shouldn't harm the clam at all.

Personally, I'd keep it.

Thanks for the replies. I'll leave it alone unless it starts bothering the clam then. Thanks :)
