Hello, after doing a 30% water change on my tank, overnight, the ssc had its base bleached. My alk also shifted by 1.4 units. Everything else is fine. If you want a photo, comment it. I think it rtn’d overnight. If I can do anything to save it, please comment it.

Is it going to give it a better chance of survival? It is a 1-inch frag. Are there other ways to save it?

Unfortunately this is a bacterial infection. You could potentially dip in iodine but i haven’t had much luck with STN and dipping. Fragging has worked for me in the past. I had one instance where I put crazy glue all over the part that was undergoing STN and the frag survived and is starting to grow.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?

  • I currently use a HOB filter on my reef tank.
