Which species of starfish are you asking about? If you mean Sand Sifting Starfish then Yes, they are reef safe.So can i have a sand star fish in my tank will it eat my corals or my crabs or snails?

I agree with hds4216. And to add, food source/supply is also key. There are many reef safe starts like Sand Sifting Starfish that DaddyFish mentioned, Brittle stars (comes in many different shapes and colours) and Marble stars will be a good addition to your tank. But try not to have too many.Starfish are very delicate and you shouldn't get one until your tank is old and mature imo.
