Hello!

I just started cycling my tank 1.5 days ago and I realized I put too much sand in, there is 2 inches all around but am now reading 1 inch is much better.

Can i just scoop some out and let the water drain through a strainer since im not so far along with the cycle?

I used turbo start 900

Yeah 2” of sand is fine. If you really want to remove some sand then doing it like you described will be fine.

Nobody should be telling you 1" is better than 2" or 3". That's just false. It depends on your needs. 1" is pretty much the minimum you could go without getting bare spots from critters or flow.
