T-5 bulbs, PAR rating, what bulbs to use, etc....

i got a tek T5 6 bulb on my 90 gallon sps dominated but i hate my bulb combo..
i use
1. ATI 54W Blue Plus
2. ATI 54W Aqua Blue
3. 54W Coral Light Fiji Purple
4. UV Actinic White
5. ATI 54W Aqua Blue
6. ATI 54W Blue Plus

i want something more blue for my daylight, but i still want a lot of growth. whats the best combo for that?

The problem you have is to much white bulbs in the middle (2,3,4)
even do they are diffrent bulbs they all look white with slight blue or pink tint
Having more blue bulbs will give good color but growth will take time

you could use the same combo I gave Acanman

I have a 40 breeder also and i really think 6 bulbs is just to much for that tank
Try this combo it will get you close to 20K

Dude, I JUST tried that combo out... It was mindblowing blue... almost too much, I am going to stick with this lighter choice with 2 Aquablue Specials for a few days... I may end up going bluer...

I have been having troubles with my stuff bleaching out and morphing colors. I run 4 over-driven T5's. The lights are in a canopy and are around 3-4" off the water. I have run many different bulbs and lean toward a bluer tank. It's a mixed reef and seems like everything that isn't shaded bleaches/changes out. I'm currently working on raising the canopy up. I can only go about 2". Do you guys think that will help? What is a good 4 bulb combo? It's on a 40 breeder so it's only 16" deep add sand and I'm around 13 1/2 -14" deep.

Hi Mev

Running bulbs thru ice cap ballast drives more the bulbs to white in color and since your tank is not that high it could tend to burn them. Raising them will help. I have my PM like 8-10 inches of the water.

Watch when you put new carbon it will tend to clear up the water pretty fast and also tend to burn tips cause of the penetration of the lighting raising the light or reducing your foto period will help.

I suggest you if you could get normal ballst to drive your T5
and a good combo you could use

Blue plus
aqua blue special or blue plus (more blue go with the blue plus)
fiji purple
blue plus

Also check your parameters and nutrients just in case they are high it also tends to bleach corals
