I just transferred my livestock from a 90 gallon to a 120 gallon. I'm using the same sand, plus a bag of dry sand that I rinsed, the same rock, and most of the same bio media in the sump. I did add some dr Tim's as a precaution once the fish went in. Should I be anticipating unstable parameters and another ugly stage, like I'm just beginning again?

In my experience yes, but maybe not nearly as bad as setting up a fresh tank. I did this recently and had a single bout of GHA and nothing much more.

Right now I’m doing it a second time. I have the new larger tank running with cured live rock and am going to run both tanks parallel for one to three months....

Awesome. My tangs, foxfaces, and urchins should have a great time with a turf algae outbreak.

I’ve always had issues with sand whenever I’ve tried a tank transfer. But otherwise i can’t think of any algae outbreaks on the rocks.

Did a hasty rinse of the sand in the old tank water, just to get some gunk out of it. I'll be keeping an eye on parameters as this goes forward.
