What are these spots on my nako wrasse?

Hello. I got this nako wrasse today, and i put it in a observational qt tank. When I got him earlier today, he had some light spots on both sides, but 5 hours later the spots have developed into very distinct marks on both sides of the wrassse.

I fed brine shrimp, and he ate a couple pieces. The wrasse is also barely moving, and for some reason always has his tail curled.

Heres a picture of when i got him:

And here is a video of what he looks like now:

Any advice on what this could be is appreciated.

I can't see your video, but what spots are you referring to? Do you mean the lighter colored vertical bands?

I see what seems like normal pattern but was hard with camera focusing in and out and some samples are below of patterns. The swimming you describe is typical of new arrival and getting acquainted with surroundings.

Thats the wrasse putting on camo. At least from what the video shows.

oh ok. Ive never seen them do that so i was woried. he finished all of the brine shrimp i put so thats a good sign i guess

Yes, that is normal coloration. Usual you will see that in the bag or if you look in the tank at night.

ah ok. i was worried he got hurt and those were marks damage.

He is very stressed, probably not a fan of the PVC either, I generally use something more natural looking for hides (fake logs, fake plants, etc).

Did you float the bag in your display?

Looks like typical wrasse stress behavior. I would personally leave it alone as best I can for the next few days and limit interactions to just feeding and observation in the same window preferably.

yeah, while i was getting the qt setup. i drip acclimated him with the qt water tho.

i’ll get some better hiding spots for him today aswell

I would try to avoid that next time if you are QTing. Basically those bags end up with some water on the outside or on a table where water dripped from all sorts of tanks from previous fish being bagged so it's sort of a potential petri dish of problems.

oh wow i never even considered that. it would suck to go through all the effort of qt just to catch something from floating a bag.

the fish is already looking better and is more active. if he does well, i think i will start copper in 3-4 days.
