Not sure if this counts but I modified the air thing for my skimmer pump as limpets and stomatellas kept going in and getting trapped in the needle wheel which both kills the snails and causes me a headache as I then have to take the pump apart to get them out (skimmer does not run as efficiently when there is big things lodged in the needle wheel).

Back 20+ years ago (when I didn't have money) I used a old restaurant dishwasher chemical dosing system that I found to dose Kalk top-off and trace elements. It took me a while to figure out how to trigger the pumps. I used light timers to trigger the 110v relays, it worked like a charm and was basically free. Wish i had pics.... Been out of the hobby until 3 months ago. Purchased a Reefer 170, radion 15pro and mpw10 + skimmer return pump etc... and kind of caught ZOA fever..... I know this is an old topic but.....

Hi all! I'm new to R2R. But I'm a DIY guy.

LED rig:

Sump and Algae Scrubber:

Plumbing & Overflow:

Relay controlled Outlet box:

Arduino Reef Controller:

Just to name a few....

I attempt to be a DIY person. I'll have to get a few photos this weekend. I have made a simple CPU fan holder that sits in the trim of my sump (40Br). I also made a homemade version of the Profilux Level controller to connect to my Apex breakout box. Currently it has high and low float switches and I will be adding a pump shut off switch.

Upcoming projects include a floating canopy for T5 & Kessil lighting to replace an ATI PM fixture. A stand for a 30g shallow rimless frag tank to be plumbed with two other tanks.

I am not a huge do it yourself guy. Mainly because I do not have a lot of tools and even less time but I did manage to make a few things for a 120g tank of mine.

The overflow cover....

That looks like it belongs in the lobby of a nice hotel.

Here is the stand that I'm in the process of building for my 225. I'm at a little stand still because of the weather so most likely it'll be done in the spring. I have the wood for the doors cut,I just need to run them through the router table,
Stain them, and polyurethane everything. 2 full days of weather above 60 and I can get it done.

Built the stand for my reef tank. and a power head cover out of rubble, if you look close its the rock formation on the back glass in the center of the tank. I am always looking for the next DIY project!
