Not true at all, I've met several people on our FB group that sell coral frags for very cheap, high end stuff as well....I've even bought gently used almost new equipment for great prices too.

aiptasia!!! ive spent hundreds on burghia, used aiptasia x, with some success, and peppermint shrimp which was expensive food for my damsel . also kalkwasser paste which nuked my coral
