Hi guys! I'm new to reefing, I've had my first saltwater tank for a few months.

i noticed this thing on a bit of my new liverock. i don't think its part of the rock. it's like a white pebble covered in tiny hairs. is it a creature? if so what should i do with it?

thanks!

Pineapple sponge maybe? Common hitchhiker. Harmless filter feeder

i thought so but it doesn't look quite like the ones i saw on google [they're sort of tube shaped and this one is perfectly round like a pebble], so i thought i'd check

Looks like a sponge, maybe Tethyidae or somewhat related, those random threads to hold on are typical.

A less blown out picture with more contrast to see what the surface of it actually looks like would identify it clearer as sponge or not sponge

that might be it. it looks more like a tethyidae sponge than a pineapple sponge to me.

I'm going with sponge as well. Good life to have in a tank!
