I used a Chelmon marginalis (like a copper band butterfly, but with 1 less band). Worked perfectly on a terrible infestation, and they are known to be easier to keep (as best I know). I've had it a few years now.
Berghai nudibranches will solve the problemAny reef safe options for a small tank? I have two or three aiptasia that have just appeared in my 30 gal reef.

Hi Rand, I know this is a very old post, but quite relevant to me right now. Did you continue to have a lot of success with your Chelmon margínalos for getting rid of your aiptaisa infestation? How well behaved was this fish with your SPS & LPS corals? I have a really bad aiptasia infestation in my 365G tank and need to take some drastic action. I have tried all the typical aiptasia eating characters with mised results (with file fish having good results) but my tank simply has to many for my two filefish to eat and other options haven’t work out to well. So I’m willing to risk a semi-reef butterfly if it will wipe them out.I used a Chelmon marginalis (like a copper band butterfly, but with 1 less band). Chelmon marginalis is not commonly available. Probably the best aiptasia eating butterfly is Chaetodon kleinii. They are readily available and voracious. The problem is that they also will eat your LPS as will most other butterflies.Hi Rand, I know this is a very old post, but quite relevant to me right now.
