I'm running low, and I can't find an online vendor in the US that has it. Anyone know where to get it? BRS is out too.

FWIW, I’ve found little to no difference between Elimi NP and Bacto Balance when it comes to how they help eliminate N and P. I know marketing says they’re different but both lower N and P IME

Yes, their marketing certainly does say different. My nitrates are at 26, phosphates at .2. Bacto Balance adds N&P, I don't see why I'd want to do that. It also claims that it adds trace elements, and I'm on moonshiners, so I'd just like the carbon dosing, please.

Bacto Balance adds N&P, I don't see why I'd want to do
There are two reasons to carbon dose:
1) Reduce NO3/ PO4
2) Feed bacteria that will be consumed by corals (my main use of carbon dosing)

The addition of N&P helps with the second scenario. In theory this will help to maintain the tank N&P ratio.

. It also claims that it adds trace elements,
The addition of trace elements is again to promote the bacteria and intended for bacteria. It should have minimal impact on your current dosing of trace elements and you can always make correction.
Other coral foods have trace elements in then.

That is my understanding.

Perhaps @Hans-Werner the creator of the NP Bacto Balance can comment.

Yes, can someone from Tropic Marin please chime in here and let us know if Elimi NP is going to be available again? For someone with balanced traces, and plenty of N&P in their system, it doesn’t make sense to use a product that contains either.

I contacted brs and was told they do not carry the 200ml anymore and not sure when they will carry it again. They then suggested I buy the 50ml. At half the cost for 1/4 of the fluid not sure what they are thinking besides more profit for them…..

Would love to hear what tropic Marin has to say. If just using the bacto balance will work same I’m good with that but there got to be reason why elimi is recommended instead

I believe we use bacto balance when our po4 is under 10. Anything over 10 and we should be on elimi.

As I stated earlier, Bacto Balance will 100% bottom out your N and P if you want it to.

I have used both Elimi-NP and Bacto Balance for years. I see no difference between the two and the added trace elements from Bacto Balance are so small that they will never throw elements out of whack. How do I know? 2 years of Reef Moonshiners while dosing Elimi-NP or Bacto Balance.

I have since come to realize that the ICP tests aren't nearly accurate or reliable enough to fully trust.

Totally understand but still would be more comfortable to hear it from the actual manufacture, and then, when I do, maybe everyone will switch to bacto since elimi is not even available anymore

Yeah I'm going to start bacto balance tomorrow also. My no3 is in target. My po4 I will drop down with rowaphos. Hopefully bacto will keep po4 in check after. If not I will have to add phosphate-e to the arsenal. Just a few drops a week is all it takes. Will need to start bacto at a lower dose to build up to the amount I was dosing elimi.
