Wrasses - are they all super inquisitive?

Saw a 3” wrasse in a frag tank at the LFS, he was one of the funnest guys I’ve seen yet. He was jetting all over the tank, shimmering perfectly in blue light.

Everytime we came up, he was at the top of the water checking and following us around. My kid must have played with him for 20 mins, chasing her finger around. Sure maybe he was hungry, but it immediately made our want list with how “friendly” it was.

Are they all like this, any other fun fish?

Wrasse are generally very active, very inquisitive fish. One wrasse, the blue streak cleaner wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus), is thought to be the smartest fish in the world by many scientists due to it being able to recognize itself in a mirror. One of only a very small amount of animals globally.

The Flame Hawkfish is probably the most inquisitive, full of personality fish that I have ever kept.

What kind of wrasse? Wrasses are a really big family of fishes, so it's probably not fair to say "all."

Many do make a living hunting for small inverts in the rocks.

Some kind of Halichoeres will always be a must-have for me.
