I have a tank which has a tang
and yellow blenny with a fang
they leave each other much alone
now I'm looking for an abalone

and a rose bubble tip anemone
which now really is no friendome
it moves almost wherever it wants
and noting lives in its old haunts

it has a stagnant growth of Duncan
acting like it has a case of funkin'
now running out of terrible rhymes
for a while I had a reasonable time

Ode to the Money Pit, The Lovely Old Tank

My lovely old tank,
Oh how it did stank!
I'd spend more cash
It was gone in a flash!
I'd buy more stuff
Disappeared in a puff!
The corals would grow
And the colors would glow!
Then my doser would stop
Then there's no more pop!
I'd fix it real fast
But the timing was passed.
Time for more dough
Oh the money does flow!
But the tanks coming back
And the colors won't lack!
Because the tank is for life
If it pleases my wife.
But the money does go
Out, out, and not slow.
It's worth all pain
Just to look at the gain.
Whatever it's cost
I don't consider it lost!
My lovely old tank
Is worth money from a bank!

here is mine

Stopped at the fish store for a couple gold fishes…left with nothing but salt water wishes. Pennies were saved and dollars where pocketed, but the budget soon sky rocketed…tons of rock at ten dollars a pound, thousand bucks for lights but the money was found, a Skimmer , a sump and a heater or two, but we’re no where near through, we need frags and a big clean up crew to clean up the poo! All my money is gone and the fish never say thanks…come to think of it…I need a couple more tanks……

Not really about my tank currently (well the skimmer part is true), although I have been through all of it.

Cyano is red, my skimmer smells like poo,
Flatworms suck and GHA does too. That's all I got

Oh Algae, you’re so perplexing.

You’re just trying to do your job.

But if I do not knock you down,

other reefers think me a slob.



The system sure depends on you.

You take the nitrates out.

But if I do not check you,

my watchman goby pouts.



In fact I find you beautiful.

Your colors do abound.

Brown, green, yellow, purple, red.

However, I have found…



Once you take a foot hold,

and of course you do have many,

the next course about my action,

will be a lawnmower blenny!



Still I would have you many times.

You do not make fish sick.

If only it were just as easy,

to free my reef of ICH!!!

This isn't a poem, but while I was thinking of another poem today, the dumbest of dad jokes occurred to me. How did Tilefish get their name? They prefer the tiles on your floor.

My life got flipped-turned upside down

I'll tell you how I became the prince of a reef tank in Bel-Air
In West Australia born and raised
On the drop off was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool
And all soakin up sunshine outside of the shoal
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started takin friends from my neighborhood
I got in one little net and then I got scared
Looks like I’m movin' with my auntie and uncle to Bel-Air"

I dedicate this to all first-time anemone owners who know the pain of plopping their new purchase in the tank to find the next day it's in hiding.
