I think this was attached to a trokus snails shell ... kind of like an "extra" odd looking bump..that came off maybe... I found it climbing the glass and thought that's an odd looking limpet. So in tupperware jail it awaits its sentence Anyone know what it is? ......is it...

I have one on one of my Astrea snails. I just thought he had a screwed up shell until one day I noticed there was a gap between it and the shell. I pulled it off and it was identical to this. I have no idea what is. Would love to know also!

Some other forms people were saying possibly a type of clam or some critter called a hipponicidae which looks like a clam lol. I would like to know if they are harmful. My astrea has had his for at least 8 months and seems healthy. Maybe just a filter feeder or another algae eater? [h=1][/h]

it looked like a clam when it was on the animal. but it "walked" like a limpet or snail when it was loose on the glass...u can see it in pic three using its foot to try and rite himself. its shell looks like it was purpose grown to fit the snail.
