Started on the 210 today in a big way. Tons of work to still be done. The rock work is going to evolve. This is just day one.
Few shots. This part of a larger overall strat. :)

If you are in the DFW area and have a 7 foot long tank for sale, let me know. Thanks. No leakers, broken braces, bowing fronts, etc.

Some bad news.

The 210 center brace broke loose. I tried to repair it and failed. I'm going to get rid of the tank.

I have a deposit down on an acrylic replacement. New dimensions are 96L X 24W X 42H.
Working on finding a good stand for it.

I will post back once I have the new tank leak tested and in the house.

Love the dimensions! Are you planning on a mixed reef? I think you should do a clam only ;)

Might be a mixed blessing, I am assuming the new tank will be drilled? :)

Thanks guys. We are looking forward to the "new" tank, if not the extra expenses surrounding the event. Its acrylic and reef ready with dual overflow boxes on each corner.
Also drilled for closed loop which is most likely the way to go when you are looking at 400 gallons plus.

This will be a mixed reef. The rock work should be similar to what we attempted last time around. I want some SPS up top, but the wife loves LPS so there will be plenty of that too.
Oh yes, and a few clams as well. Heh.

So the "new" 400 gallon replacement is in the house. Still working on having the correct type of stand built. I guess I will start a new thread once I have some progress.
RIP 210. Hello super extra ultra tall 400!

Are you planning on led or halide? 42" is the deepest tank I've seen! I usually don't like tall tanks, for some reason I love his one. Did you have it custom made?

Starting out with a Hamilton six foot fixture that will be hung from the ceiling. It has 3 X 400 watt MH plus T5 actinic bulbs. I'm going to stick with what I know for now.
I do plan on creating a mostly UV LED light strip for the back that the wife can control for her photography. Add in a few blue ones for color I guess.

The tank was custom made for a previous owner who wanted to get rid of it fairly early on. He ended up with a shorter glass tank. We had long discussions about why he was selling and the challenges of working in a tank of this depth with fish inside of it that bite. His Maroons were quite territorial and that didn't make for any fun trying to snorkel in the tank while doing maintenance along with the fears of scratching the acrylic.

Usually when I see something this tall I think of fresh water displays with folks who don't know that most fish could care less about vertical space unless its feeding time.
My wife and I are both well over six feet tall. I think this setup will feel more like looking at a nice public aquarium style setup rather than squatting down like we have to for most displays.

I'm hoping that some extensive rock work with dual pillars on each side will encourage some of the more reef type critters to enjoy the extra vertical space. Rock Blennies and such. Keep some firefish and dartfish for the top most part.

Are you planning on led or halide? 42" is the deepest tank I've seen! I usually don't like tall tanks, for some reason I love his one. Did you have it custom made?
