MACNAXX- Who's going-

OK, I have never heard of it (previously living on an island without many saltwater friends.....) and is there a website that tells me all the fabulous things that are going on?

Do people go and stay several days (can't do that)? Is it always in Atlanta, or does it move around, meaning I need to go this year since I can drive to it and not regret it next year when it's in Iceland or somewhere too expensive to go? Would they teach me lots of valuable things that Bryan, Patrick, Donny and Brandon can't? Or would they teach me these things without having to endure the abuse that those guys heap on at every turn? Hmmmm....

It is a once a year reef convention that is in a different state every year. I believe this is one of the first years it has been on the east coast in a while. Next year it will be in California. I believe they expect over 1500 people in attendance. There is a BIG trade show with a lot of major companies from the saltwater industry, several coral vendors and then there will be alot of speakers giving presentations. Look at the web site www.macnaxx.com there is info about all the speakers and a map of the trade show that shows all the vendors that will be in attendance. There is info about ticket sales as well. you can get a the entire weekend or just a one day pass or just a pass in to the trade show.

I am going for the weekend with Randy from knoxville - Bryan and Brandon are going and I think Dave, Tommy and Donny were all trying to go. Should be a good time - Plus no telling when it will be this close again.

Susan, if there is any chance you want to go you should, I dont think Macna will ever be within driving distance again. Thats why im going. Its not cheap if your staying in a hotel and paying the $160 get in, but even if you find one day you really would like to go it would be alot of fun. read through the itenerary and see if there is a day that has several things going on that interest you.

Does the $99 deal get you in for all three days and just not the reception and banquet? I'm not into big social events (my wallflower tendencies....) You get to listen to all the talks? And are the workshops different from the talks? Ugh. All the workshops are sold out. (except for fish necropsy, oh does that sound fun.... Disected the pig, the frog, the human, do I want to do the fish?)

Yes the conference is all the talks and the trade show is of course...the trade show. That is the meat and potatoes of the event. Hope you will try to come. They have some great speakers lined up on a bunch of topics. Too bad they don't have one on keeping the ellusive powder blue tang! Oops sorry I did it again! Sorry Susan I am just in one of those moods.

Seriously I hope you will try to come, should be a lot of fun.

Don't have any cadavers yet..... Crossing my fingers. The powder blue is eating the green seaweed stuff like a champ. I'll see how he eats food tonight. Less spots today. Maybe he'll make it....

And Tommy! You are so MEAN!!! You all have EVEN corrupted PATRICK!!! He used to be nice to me and now, even HE is mean. I am so defenseless.....

If you want to be good, leave your credit cards at home and the check book. Take only cash..... Of course you might find the deal of the century. I guess it won't be back this way for a while and Atlanta is pretty close!!!

Brandon and Bryan are already down there making plans for the big banquet tomorrow night. I'm heading to Atlanta tomorrow (Friday night) and will go to the vendor floor and maybe some lectures on Saturday and come back Saturday night. Should be fun.....

Bryan, you have all the tact of a MACK truck!!! Maybe people couldn't AFFORD it!! maybe they had to work!!! I thought about calling in sick today, but couldn't do it. Calling in sick on a Friday really looks bad and nobody ever believes it anyway....

Do people take corals to trade with others set up and walking around, or is it primarily a selling thing? I have a friend that brought me a nice sized piece of the Electric blue Cespit that he wants to trade for something cool.
