diy aquarium sump

Hey everyone, I’m Manny. I wanted to share my new tank build and a little of the story behind it. These pictures and videos represent a lot of planning, learning, setbacks, and finally seeing some progress. I work full-time in the elevator trade, and between work and family, I’ve been building...

So I have one 126 liter display tank (30gallon) and a 25 liter Pico-reef (5gallon) I'd like to turn it into a refegium without drilling glass, I've looked into tubing and overflow boxes, but I'm unsure of how to make one without risking flooding my kitchen. One idea I have is making a sump...

I’m redoing the baffles in my refugium, but I don’t want to drain and dry the whole thing to silicone in the new baffles. It’s kind of the heart of my whole system. I’m wondering if there are any products out there that use a magnet on the can simply hold the baffles in place, also so I can take...

I have a 60B tank setup for zoa growing. I initially purchased a sump kit for a 20L sump. Because of how the selves on my stand are spaced I needed shallow sump to fit on the 16" shelf, very limited. Fast forward 8 months and I need more sump space, K1 chamber, GDO reactor, bio pellets, and now...

So I have a second sump for a refugium, and right now I have a pump putting it in one end of the refugium from the main sump, and another pump putting it back into the main sump from the opposite end of the refugium. I struggle every evening to get the pumps to exactly match flow rates to not...

I bought the fiji cube 20 long DIY sump kit and it says i need the things in this pic of the directions, but I can’t find any “acrylic plastic silicone” online in general let alone anything that says it’s safe for aquariums. Any recommendations or ideas as to where i can find it?

I recently purchased a Cade 1200 S2/P from AlgeaBarn. I really like the larger width on the Cade peninsula tanks and decided to go with them vs the more expensive custom route. Im removing the stock sump and plumbing and fitting it with a DIY 60 gallon breeder and roller mat placed in my...

I am upgrading my 40 gallon reef tank to a 75 gallon reef tank. The stand that I built is 50” tall x 18.25” deep x 48.25” wide. The rimless tank brings the height up to 68” which will be great for viewing but horrible for maintenance. I will be running a 29 gallon sump with a Simplicity 240 DC...

Finally getting back into the hobby after a few years hiatus. I bought a "trigger" systems baffle kit for a 40G breeder and diy'ed my sump. Finally got the tank wet and I'm not really happy with the water level in this sump it seems too high. I tested it by sitting everything off and it won't...

I would really appreciate all feedback. Finally I have started assembling my tank and now working with sump phase. It has been on hold for three years since priories changed with new born back then and I have been stuck few days with how to setup the baffles in the sump to have silent water flow...

Hello I ordered a Aqua lifter pump to add to my overflow, and I just found out that it won’t be coming. I picked this pump because it was the only one that I have heard of being used the way I am trying to. I’m planning on using it to remove the air bubbles from my overflow and keep the siphon...

Hi there my name is Pat Murphy, I am new to Reef 2 Reef kinda. I've been hesitant to post on here. But this will be my first article. Last summer (2018) I decided to go ahead and build a system. I decided on a 120gallon. This put the wheels in motion for me to learn how to silicone a sump...
