fox flame

So my colony has been losing tissue from the encrusted base for a couple of weeks now. I'm worried I don't know when, or if, I should cut the colony from the base to help save it. Would the encrusting portion not affect the branching portion? I don't want to repeat myself with retyping...

About a month ago I noticed some bright green forming on the base of my fox flame colony and in the past few days it has spread thru the entire colony. Looks cool
