[VIDEO] - Episode 5 - Fish Quarantine Basics - Livestock Series

Why Quarantine? While it may seem difficult, quarantining is a pretty straight forward process that is essential for disease prevention and fish conditioning. In this episode, we discuss the basics and will walk you through the set-up to help get you started. What size tank do you need? Heater? Lights? We’ll share our recommendations as well as what happened to make us firm believers in quarantining our fish.

- Part 2

In the last episode, we explained why we quarantine and walked you through the set-up of your quarantine tank. Today, we continue the topic, covering how to cycle, our do’s and don’ts when adding your fish, diseases to watch out for, nutrients, and finally, transitioning fish into your reef tank.

PRO TIP:
► Quarantine tank light schedule should match your display tank's schedule.
► Feeding live brine helps new arrivals start eating. This also helps finicky eaters start to eat your prepared food.
► Watch your nutrients, but no worries until NO3 is greater than 30ppm. 30ppm = water change.
