I picked up a old hang on the back trickle filter? from a customer, she said it has been in her basment since at least 1988, probably longer. I was thinking about mounting it above my shallow reef and using it for a refugium, any ideals on a good conversion or how to set up?

I would love some interesting red and green macro algae to put in it,(any one local got any to trade / sell?) this thing is huge, it could be a large nano tank with no problem at all, lol

used a hole saw, cut a couple of new holes in my homemade frag bench, used a old canister filter to supply water from my sump into refugium, and let it drain back into the sump, cleaning out the filter was a job that should have been left until another day, but it is done and it works, maybe the extra filtration will help as well

I had a extra box of eniem ceramic tubes laying around, a hand full of crushed coral, and a pc of light diffused topped with a pc of twenty year old filter floss and added a big ole pile of cheto hooked it up and away she goes, already spotted a couple of brittle stars and a ton of shrimp / pods in the cheto, I had a few piece of pulsing Xenia that I threw in the old filter overflow, just for kicks and giggles. after thought this will probably be a problem down the road, lol
