6 “ maxima and starry blenny ?

I have 6” mature maxima clam and the mantel is normally fully expanded and clam looks huge! I recently added starry blenny to proactively handle any algae on rear tank wall, LR etc. unfortunately starry blenny started to perch on clam (fine) now nips and clam closes. Can a starry blenny and 6” maxima coexist in same tank?

is it possible to feed blenny enough to loose interest in clam mantel?

Blennys are funny creatures. Give it some nori on algae clip every so often and it’ll probably lose interest in hanging out on the clam eventually. I had one that did the same thing with a toadstool.

Put clam in cage and will try trick of nori on opposite side of tank to see that that works otherwise sigh blenny has to go

You will probably have to relocate one or the other. While many people have a various species of fish and clam without problems there are always exceptions particularly with grazing fish. I have had kole and purple tangs develop a taste for the slime on clam mantles and once it starts you have to separate them.

Blennies can be jerks. I had a bicolor blenny that nips on SPS. It's probably easier to rehome that guy

Latest compromise. Nori sheets on opposite side of tank and if I leave clam on mesh blenny won’t try to perch on clam. Hmm might work!
