A surprise hermit crab

So I discovered a new critter today climbing the tank wall… I’ve intentionally avoided hermit crabs because I don’t want any crab-on-snail violence. This guy is pretty small still, but any idea on friend vs. foe? I know next to nothing about crabs. He’s in a separate container of tank water for now (a shot glass, to give you an idea of the guy’s size) but if I put him back in, I know I’ll never find him again. TIA
