An apple to apple comparison using a sps that's been around for awhile. Both frags were acquired from same person and started out at relatively the same size. One was glued onto a disk and the other onto the rockwork; sandbed versus rock. PAR values noted on each frag.

I think it's important to remember that it NOT all about par. it's about photo saturation and inhabition points. to say "this grows awesome at 100 par" means almost next to nothing. How LONG does it have 100 par for?

I know many people that don't have powerful lights but they run them 14hrs per day.

and about the blue lights... YES. maybe alk consumption jumped when I added two reef brite xho strips to my tank.

Its about PAR, its about Duration of light, its about composition of light, its about FLOW rate, alkalinity temperature, type of coral and lots of other things. As far as Par and Acros - and the Poll - no one knows the low-level par is? So how can it be answered?

Its not just about par though, its also about how high are your nutrients or how low same goes for alk.

From my limited experience - the higher the alkalinity - the lower the light. The lower the flow - the lower the light. I keep the top of my tank - with GSP, and various acros at 600-700 pAR - but its high flow - and alkalinity of 7. The corals grow quite well - maybe not as fast as a coral farmer would want. PS - those are max PAR values - its not like that all day

Your bulbs are 18 months old and your NO3 is 100.0 ppm?

The link doesn't work. Do you mind to share your maintanence and feeding regime? What nutrient export do you have?
NO3 of 100ppm is quite impressive. Well done. Test kit?
