Adding chaeto for the first time

My bag of chaeto arrived . Do you guys rinse the chaeto in tank or fresh salt water? Or just throw it in with as little water from the bag as possible ?

I had always shaken and dropped in. I would not rinse in freshwater. A rinse in DT water certainly would be beneficial.
