Hello everyone,
Have had my first saltwater tank for about 7 months.
30 Gallons
Livestock:
2 Percula Clowns
1 Mandarin Goby
2 Nassarius Snails
2 Trochus Snails
1 Arrow Crab
GSP
Made some adjustments last night to add some Xenia that the girlfriend wanted in the tank (I know they are practically weeds) I added some copepods to the tank for the Mandarin since I didn't see much on the substrate or tank wall.
woke up this morning to a much cloudier tank. What could be the cause? Could it still be settling after moving things around or possible algae bloom? Also, been getting what looks like sludge? Am I right?
Pictures included turned down blue light so it's easier to see.
I would assume just a vacuum and water change to fix this.

looks like detritus. increase the flow in your tank so it doesn't settle in your dead spots.

Do you have any testing kits? You should check the basic parameters of your water to see if anything looks terribly off. While "basic" probably varies by aquarist, I'd recommend at least testing/measuring:
Temperature (72 to 80 degrees F)
Salinity (1.024 to 1.026)
pH (8.1 - 8.4)
Ammonia (undetectable)
Nitrite (undetectable)
Nitrate (<1.0 ppm)
Alkalinity (8 - 12 dkH)

That may not only help you pinpoint a problem but those will help others be able to provide some better suggestions.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
