I was wondering if anyone has tried algae as a co2 scrubber.
No sure I completely understand this myself. Some guidance may be needed.
I'm currently culturing phytoplankton. The thought crossed my mind to connect the air output from my jar of phyto to my skimmer air input. Acting as an algae co2 scrubber.
Could this work or am I stupid? Or would this make ph levels drop even further?
Please comment your thoughts. Has this ever been done or discussed before?

I drop my calcium reactor effluent into a big heaping pile of Cheato, I kinda consider that a CO2 scrubber :) But you have to have something to absorb the CO2; simply putting Oxygen rich air into the skimmer may not displace the CO2? Otherwise people would be dosing oxygen (they do ozone sometimes). It may help some, but I would think you would need a tremendous amount of phyto to make a dent in pH. I light my refugium almost 24x7 which combined with a kalk stirrer and outside airline keeps my pH in the 8.25-8.4 We had a big cold front come through today and my pH hit 8.48.

I think absorbing the CO2 directly is more effective than replacing it with air that has less CO2.
