Algae ID help (with microscope)

Hey all, was wondering if you knew what this algae was? I'm thinking hair algae or diatoms. Kind of looks like a mix of both.

These look smashed and don’t really look like anything. How did you prepare the slide? Is there a cover slip over the sample?

Yeah, there's a cover over it. Should I not use it?
Coverslips are useful. When there isn’t enough water with the sample, the sample is crushed. Just make sure there is a generous drop of water with the sample before applying the coverslip. If all else fails, try without the coverslip.
