Need HELP from someone more knowledgeable than me, which is all or most of you. The wispy off white strands of algae in this video literally appeared overnight. I've been struggling to keep nutrient levels measurable however phosphates have consistently been 0.0 and nitrates have fallen from 11 to 4 and yesterday to zero. This has occurred despite heavy feeding and for the past few days dosing Tropic Marin Plus-NP. Now that I have growing algae,( all I've had previously were diatoms), I don't know if my dosing will just encourage it. The tank is 3 month's old. Finally,(and weirdly) mt ORP went up 150 overnight.

The video shows it waving around in the current.

Here they are under a scope. I was thinking crysophytes due to the conditions and timing of their arrival. Possibly mixed with the diatoms I already knew were present.

The video is mucous. The slides don't have enough magnification/detail to be certain but the main thing on them is diatoms.

What does “mucous” consist of? I mean, I’m a nurse so I’m quite familiar with mucous but I’m guessing you’re talking about something else here lol!

Curiously since you described "mucous" I discovered a large amount of it in my filter socks which have been clogging up MUCH more frequently for the past several days.
